Wadhurst Castle – Sussex

Wadhurst Castle in East Sussex is a listed Victorian residence which had a very old and poorly controlled heating system fed by an obsolete boiler. The heating system around the building was mostly retained but connected to a new distribution system in the basement with several individually controllable heating zones. The existing boiler was replaced by a modern condensing boiler with weather compensating controls. The heating modifications were completed in 2016.

A new wing is currently being constructed containing a ballroom, which will allow the castle to be used as a wedding venue. The new ballroom is mechanically ventilated and air-conditioned. The ventilation system uses acoustic treatment to reduce the impact on neighbouring properties of loud music in the ballroom. The new ventilation plant uses heat recovery and heat pump heating and cooling and it is located in a basement plantroom below the dance floor. In addition to the ballroom additional kitchen, toilets and storage areas are to be constructed in the basement of the castle. The ballroom project should be completed during 2017.

The Maltings, Brayford Wharf, Lincoln

The comprehensive refurbishment and extension of a 1970s building to create a contemporary office environment with views across the Brayford Pool. The project included an extension at fourth floor level and a new entrance and additional ground floor reception area. We designed the base-build mechanical services installation for this building, which included mixed-mode air-conditioning, heating and water services including solar hot water. The design facilitates a low-energy use of the building. The building received a commendation in the 2011 RIBA East Midlands Awards for Architecture.

The Creamery, Buckingham

Construction of a new purpose-built headquarters for the Agricultural division of Cox and Robinson on the site of the old Co-op Creamery building in Buckingham. The building includes a large warehouse and distribution centre, offices, staff facilities and a large walk-in retail store.  We prepared a performance specification for the complete mechanical and electrical installations for this design and build project. We designed the full mechanical installation on behalf of the mechanical contractor.

Centrepoint – Oxford Street, London

CentrepointLargeCentre Point is located at the junction of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road in central London. The 36 storey building is well over 100m high and was built towards the end of the 1960s. In the last few years much of the building has been refurbished floor by floor. We designed the air-conditioning and ventilation systems for most of these refurbished floors and designed major changes to the main plant located in the rooftop plant room.

We designed all of the building services in association with Lamorbey Associates.

The Refinery Grooming Salons

TheRefineryLargeThe Refinery is a chain of gentlemen’s grooming salons. We designed the mechanical and electrical services for two of its central London premises in Mayfair and the City. The design included air-conditioning, ventilation, heating, water services, power and lighting. We worked closely with interior designers on this project to provide services that were both efficient and aesthetically pleasing. The resulting premises are attractive and comfortable.
